Dianne Timberlake - Principal

I am excited to serve as principal on the campus where I learned to teach alongside the best teachers in the world. I am thankful to my mentor, Mrs. Sandra Sherman, for her dedication and faithfulness to China Elementary for over five decades. She leaves quite a legacy and big footprints to fill. It is my heartfelt desire to ensure that China Elementary continue to provide its best for our students, their parents, and our wonderful staff. I appreciate your ongoing support and trust as we work with your children.

It is our goal at CE to help our students become self-disciplined learners with a passion for lifelong learning. China Elementary disciplinary procedures involve helping our students identify unproductive behaviors, alternate solutions, and ways to restore and maintain good relationships. Students who visit the office for discipline referrals are able to verbalize what they did wrong, what to try the next time, and to hear that we believe they will make better choices in the future. We are so proud of our little Hawks and who they are becoming! I am excited that Jennifer Lyons is joining our staff as assistant principal. She brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our campus. I encourage you to come by and meet her.

Please check my "Parent's Corner" regularly for resources that can help you help your child. I will continue to post new articles about how you can help your child in many areas of his/her development.

I graduated from Lamar University in 1978 with a BS in Elementary Education, specializing in Special Education, Emotionally Disturbed, and Early Exceptional Childhood. I completed the Basic Language (Dyslexia) course from Neuhaus Center in 1989 and my Master's Degree in Educational Administration (with principal certification) in 2007.

I began my teaching career in 1978, initially working for four years in junior high and high school special education settings. I joined the China Elementary staff in 1984 and have worked in several positions during my years at CE:  special education, first and second grades, early literacy intervention, and assistant principal (2008-2015). I am excited to continue my journey right here at China Elementary as principal in the 15-16 school year.

I was active in TSTA and ATPE throughout my teaching career and am currently a member of TEPSA, Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association, where I continue to serve as a volunteer leader. I look forward to meeting you and working with you and your children this year.
