Color Chart

Green - You will get to start out each day on "Ready to Learn".

Yellow - If you receive a warning, you will move your clip down to help you think about your choices.

Orange - If you continue to display poor behavior you can move down to the "Teacher's Choice" level.  Here, the teacher can decide what action to take. Loss of recess time might be an appropriate choice.

Red - When you move to the parent contact level, the teacher will notify parents via note or phone call. Students on this level may also lose recess time, etc.  Depending on the action, you may visit the assistant principal.

There are certain actions that warrant an immediate trip to the principal's office. (fighting, hurting self or others, bullying) Parents will be called if this happens.

Rewards for Positive Behavior:

Students caught doing positive things above and beyond what is expected will be given “hawk bucks”, they can save and exchange for a reward from our classroom treasure box or the office.

Daily Binders

Your child will have a Take Home binder, and they will bring this binder home
each day except Friday. Inside the binder will be homework, notes to parents, spelling words, word wall words, math flash cards, and guided readers as they are introduced in first grade.  You may send notes and lunch money back in this binder.  Please be aware that you will need to check the behavior chart each night and sign your name.  There is also a reading log that you will need to initial each night after your child has read once guided reading has begun.  Graded work will be sent home once a week.

Snacks

We will have a snack every day.  Please send a healthy snack each day.
