Physical fitness is not only one of the most important keys to a healthy body; it is the basis of dynamic and creative intellectual activity. - John F. Kennedy
Dear Parents and Guardians,
My name is Trisha Mattison, and I will be your child’s Physical Education teacher this year. I am so excited to be a part of your child’s education.
My goal in physical education is for everyone to learn to make healthy choices and feel successful when participating in a variety of activities. This enables students to develop a positive attitude toward physical activity and to develop healthy habits, which will hopefully continue throughout their lives.
Students will be encouraged to have fun and enjoy PE. They will also be encouraged to participate to the best of their ability in a wide variety of activities. At the elementary level, specific skills are taught so that students will be able to pursue competitive sports as well as lifetime sports.
Your child will have PE and/or recess every day, and tennis shoes are the recommended footwear. Shoes must have a non-marking rubber sole and cover the entire foot. For safety reasons, on the days your child does not wear appropriate shoes to PE (such as sandals, open back shoes, or leather-soled boots), another appropriate exercise will be assigned, such as walking. Our intent is to keep your child safe and to promote fitness. Tennis shoes are also essential to keep your child safe as he/she moves in the hallways, on the playground, and enters and exits the bus. Please send your child to school in tennis shoes since our schedule does not allow time in the day for your child to change shoes.
If you have any questions or concerns, my conference time 8:05-8:50. Please feel free to contact me to set up a conference, or you may email me at: firstname.lastname@example.org .
I am looking forward to a great year!
